What languages do you speak?

I speak English and Armenian fluently.

Why do you teach?

I teach because I am passionate about empowering students to realize their full potential. There's nothing more rewarding than witnessing that "aha" moment when a concept clicks and their eyes light up with understanding. Furthermore, learning from each student is truly an honor. Whether it's adapting to new communication and teaching styles, learning about their cultures and backgrounds, or gaining new perspectives, I believe that teaching is as much a learning experience for me as it is for my student.

What three words would your students use to describe you?

Kind, creative, and caring.

What is your favorite book?

My favorite book series is the Harry Potter series. No matter what stage of life I'm in, I can always turn to the bravery and hope portrayed by the characters, even during the darkest times in the series. It's a testament that with teamwork and a strong moral code, anything can be overcome.

What is one memorable moment you've had while tutoring?

During my office hours for General Chemistry at UC Berkeley, there was a student who frequently showed up feeling overwhelmed and frustrated because she couldn’t quite grasp the concepts and felt constantly behind. Creating real-world parallels and visual presentations to demonstrate chemistry properties, laws, and theories tailored to her learning style was truly a pleasure. With consistent effort on both our parts, she was able to build a foundation in chemistry, brick by brick, sturdy enough for her to continue her pre-med education and tackle future biochemistry and organic chemistry courses. At the last office hours she attended, she thanked me for not giving up on her, and that moment was worth everything to me.
